Volunteer Opportunities

PALS (People Actively Living Socially) Be-Friending Volunteer

Based on a Big Brothers/Big Sister type model, a be-friending volunteer is just that:  a friend.  Be-friending volunteers must complete 15 hours of training (online and in-person combined), and be willing to commit to attending six (6) in-person events per year.  An “event” can be many different things.  It may be spending an hour on a patio having coffee, engaging in conversation with your friend.  It may be attending a concert, or going bowling.  Be-friending volunteers can be singles, participate as a couple, or participate as a family.  Be-friending pairs are matched according to activity likes, personalities and location.

PALS University Volunteer

PALS U volunteers will engage with individuals and staff during University hours, 8:30-4:30 Monday thru Friday.  Volunteers will be asked to assist with classroom activities, preparing and assisting with lunch, and end of day clean-up.

Event Volunteers

CDD holds three (3) events each year.  Event volunteers will help with event planning and execution.

Yard Work and Maintenance Volunteers

Volunteers will assist in the spring and fall to clean up yards, plant flowers and create inviting outdoor spaces for the individuals and staff who live in the homes.  Other light maintenance chores, such as painting or carpentry repair are also available to volunteers who are interested.
